Le Mans Moto2: Redding takes first win!

Scott Redding finally broke his duck to take victory in his first Moto2 race at Le Mans today, 20 years to the day since Alan Carter's win in the same class at the French track. Takaai Nakagami took an early lead after a brilliant start from pole, but soon lost the lead to Pol Espagaro. However, he couldn't get away from...

When the top three go down ...

... when you're fourth, we call that "doing a Bradbury".

Well done, Scott.

... when you haven't won in 4 years, then you'll take anything - even a red flag win. But it's not a real win - everyone knows that.

Oh, really?

"The first Spanish rider in the Moto2 race was Moncayo back in 17th." Poor Julian Simon. But yeah, great ride. Well done Scott!

Pair of sour tossers.

Not a real win? looked real enough to me, didn't fling it down the road and had plenty in handy to cover the final few laps to the flag if he'd needed to.

Quality ride.

Superb ride from Scott

Patient and beautifully paced. The boy became a man today. First man to break the Spanish GP embargo this year.

NOT A REAL WIN

Hahahahahaha that made me chuckle. I thought a real win was the one in 1st place when the race is declared, albeit chequered or red flag. WHAT A PLANK. That's what happens when mummy lets little Jonny alone on the computer.

Congratulations Scott

A perfect day for the lad. A flawless ride and all his rivals screwed up and crashed out. He's got a hell of a future.

Absolute joy

What a delight to see Scott Redding take his very well deserved first Moto2 win.

I am certain it will not be his last.

Go on Scott, win the championship, you know you want to!.

Nearly a win - but not really

... there's nothing like taking the chequered flag - a red one is just a pale imitation.

Still, after battling against obesity and continual under-achievement, this must come as a relief to Redding - no matter how small a portion of glory it is in reality.

Wait until he regularly manages to beat Rabat, Espagaro, Luthi and Nakagami on a level playing field before singing his praises too highly.
