Andrea Dovizioso thrilled with podium challenge

Andrea Dovizioso capitalised on Ducati’s preference for wet conditions to mount a podium challenge until the penultimate lap of a rain-hit French MotoGP race in Le Mans yesterday. The Italian led for eight out of the opening 13 laps after an intense battle with eventual winner Dani Pedrosa and he only lost second position to hard charging British rider Cal Crutchlow...

Well done... it's a while since we saw a Ducati leading a race & I think if it had stayed wet he'd have been in with a shout of a win... it wasn't to be. Good luck to him.

The Fast Italian ...

... the first time a Ducati has finished in front of both factory M1's since Stoner. Dovi rocks.

Sorry OG...

Le Mans 2011... Rossi 3rd, JL 4th, Spies 6th... Dovi does, however, rock... next...

As you say Hedgey ...

...  it's been a bloody long time indeed, but this is only Dovi's 4th race on last year's bike. He's up against state of the art 2013 equipment and his cool, class showed through.

Shame the race wasn't run in full wet conditions for the duration because Dovi, Pedrosa and Marquez were clearly on a different planet compared to the rest.

surely that should read "Dovi, Pedrosa, Marquez and a walking-wounded Crutchlow were clearly on a different planet compared to the rest".

owain but that would have been a gifted fight for the win for dovi just like you just criticised redding for on the other thread.u realy are a complete bell end.good ride by dovi though but it is a track hes usualy gone well at and ducati in general have gone well at.dont read to much into it folks.

... no Adie, you read it right the first time. Crutchlow 'the bouncing bomb' was nowhere near the others pace in the wet and only gained an advantage as the track dried. Sorry, but it's a 'no' for you also Bart. A full race distance win is a 'proper' win and is not the same as a red-flag win over a shortened distance when no-one knows if or when a red-flag is going to be waved.
