Can Valentino Rossi rediscover winning touch in Mugello?

There was once a time when the MotoGP field would arrive in Mugello wondering who was going to finish second behind home favourite Valentino Rossi. The hugely popular Rossi was unbeatable on home soil at the spectacular Mugello track where he notched an incredible seven straight victories between 2002 and 2008Since that last win in ’08 on a podium shared with...

I doubt he's lost much if anything

So many examples of guys racing competitively until much older.  The problem for Rossi is th at the younger guys are moving on where he hasn't.

If you look at Jorge's progression against Rossi in his prime, each year Jorge was stronger and more competitive. To the point that he surpassed Rossi who did you-know-what (lol).

Without doubt Jorge has become a much better and more consistent rider in the last couple of years.  Dani has also reached a new level.  Marquez?  The rookie is already setting records in an era that Rossi is struggling to podium. Immense talent.

Honda lanes..

Dani has reached a new level because of the bike he is riding.

Marquez is special..but he's a rookie ffs and is benefitting from the RCV's dominance in all areas too.

The Yamaha lads are right up against it. Mugello has the fastest straight on the calendar so we all know what that means.

M1's in 3rd, 4th and 5th if Bradl don't perform again..with Rossi having his work cut out to beat Jorge.

Off to do a rain dance now.

What does having the fastest straight on the calendar mean (apart from having the fastest straight on the calendar)?

There's more to this racing malarky than just having the top speed (see: Ducati).  Stay tuned.

I'd say he needs to be getting consistent podiums before we know if he's going to take another win.

Christ, he got the Ducati to the podium in the dry there last year.

Probably a Honda one two though....

This ex Rossi fan can't see a way out.

No anf if he can't podium then it should be Bye Bye Baby, he aint doing himself any favours and certainly not helping Yammy.Maybe he should go to WSB but his problem is Max has 2 championships on the Aprilia and to fail would put a smile on a certain Romans face.
