Struggling Ben Spies to withdraw from Mugello race?

Injury-hit Ben Spies has admitted withdrawing from Sunday’s Italian MotoGP race on Sunday is an option under consideration after he endured a tough return to action in Mugello. The Ignite Ducati rider was 16th fastest and over 2.7s off the pace while he continues to struggle with complications from a serious right shoulder injury he suffered in Sepang last October. Compensating for...

Wouldn't be a bad idea to ride the bike till it hurts then pull in. If I was in Spies boots i'd be out on that bitchy GP13 learning it 24hrs 7days and every secondallowable, hey but thats me  and my love for riding motorbikes.

Why?

He can ride the bike so just toddle round for some points. The shoulder must be really bad for him to say he can't ride the bike for 45 minutes. I know it's hard but he's a strong guy. If it hurts too much then pull in but don't withdraw mid-event.

What a shame....

His head hasn't been right for a while now... Why? personally I have no idea (but nothing to do with his bloody mum!) but it is a real shame, cos to watch him in AMA was great, his WSB crown very impressive at first attempt and then his start in Motogp was a lot better than most superbike riders... but last year he lost it, simple as that. More interesting is how the hell did he convince Ducati to take him on! cos the obvious thing would of been for them to take both Dovi and Cal into the factory team and demote Hayden to the Ignite bike. If they wanted move that Ducati on in a serious way the contrasting riding styles of Dovi and Cal, combined with their obvious rivalry would have been the true way forward. I like Hayden... but how long does guy get to move a bike on? He should be in the junior factory squad now.

Sad

to see Ben struggling, he comes across as a really decent bloke. Shoulders are difficult to repair except if your name is Rossi then of course he is faking it.
