Mugello MotoGP: Pedrosa snatches pole

Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa will start tomorrow's MotoGP race from pole position after snatching it at the very end of the final qualifying session. Perosa stole pole position from reigning champion Jorge Lorenzo with the fastest ever lap of the Mugello circuit - a 1'47:157. Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo will start from second on the grid, with Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso completing...

How is Dovi's neck....

???? 4 races in and Cal is ahead of 3 full factory bike and 4 semi factory bikes. Not bad start to the season me thinks.... IMO of course :))

Not suprised

Pedrosa and Lorenzo are where they should be; Dovi's doing much better than I thought he would have, the Ducati has definitely improved from last year. Cal, good ride again, not much more to say. Bradl, he's quick but he needs a top five tommorow. Marquez, still looks bloody fast but maybe he's trying to hard, he needs to calm down. Rossi, his practice pace promises much more, so I reckon he'll be right up there tommorow, no problem, his qualifying problem is something very weird, but everyone seems to be blaming that on his obvious lack of natural talent *cough* 9 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. Hayden and Bautista need to speed up. Pirro, maybe it's just his bike but he's doing very well I'd say, and Espargaro, what more can he do, looks like he's just as fast but loses 0.7 down the main straight, put him on one of the Yamaha's next year.

All things being equal

ie:- weather permitting, tomorrow should be another two horse race between Pedrosa and Lorenzo. The only rider I can see capable of being the cat amongst the pigeons is the joker in the pack with the Schmacher chin - Marquez. Race winning pace looks mid to low 48's - beyond anyone else in the field.

Dovi - Daddy cool again. Crocked, but once more he achieves what nr.6 never did - back to back front row starts on the big red fire-breather. As the Reverend says, it shall be interesting to see what he does once Ducati finally bring out a proper GP13. In the mean time here's hoping he can be in the battle for the bottom podium step.

Cal. Yet another chirrup baling highside. He needs to buck this habit (or at least try to learn how to control it) or it's going to break him properly one day soon.

Dovi is doing very well aboard the apparent  'unrideable piece of s--t' as I, along with many predicted. I'll also stick to my two other predictions.........Dani to be WC and Vale to waste a decent ride.

I'd like to know

Why everyone is a fan and admirer of Marquez when Rossi was just as good, if not better when he was his age. Are you all going to be like this when Marquez is in his mid 30's? I'm a Rossi fan, and I can understand why he's struggling nowadays, it's because he's older, he's said so himself, but where has all this hate for Rossi come from? His inability to make the Ducati a competitive force? The fact that he's achieved more in his life than any of you? Or maybe because you just want to be different to all the normal people who respect Rossi has one of the greatest riders ever to grace a motorcycle, and instead say that riders like Stoner, who, don't get me wrong, was a undeniably fast and extremely talented rider, were much better just because he won two championships on bikes that were clearly much better than anything, especially 2007, and yet you people who have probably only watched the sport for 2 or 3 years.

Dovi

Another great effort. I'm pretty sure he will struggle over the distance but he is certainly doing a great job for Ducati just like he did for Tech 3 last year. Also had a tough time of it last year early in the season. Once again qualifying mixes it up. If Dovi get get away into San Donato first it could force  a good old bunching up for couple of early laps. Rossi has a decent race pace but a 3rd row start compromises his chances of a podium. On the other hand he's probably any bookmakers favourite to be one of three to podium tomorrow. Now lets hope Nick gives him hell while the Ducati's tyres are still working like in Le Mans. Hope Pirro gets a good result too. He has been doing a sterling job for team red. The way his bike performs over race distance will be a point of much interest within team red. By and large though it has to be Lorenzo and Pedrosa battling for the win and this time I fancy Lorenzo to win for a third time in Mugello.I also hope Bradl keeps it 100% together. He needs to get his self belief back and a solid top 5 will do him , his team and his season a whole lot of good.
