What exactly did they get right in 2007?
Take one rider out of the Ducati equation and look at the results of the others and where they finished in races and the title
2007 - Capirossi won one fluke race, 7th in the title
2008 - better not to think of Melandri's results
2009 - Hayden with no wins and somewhere south of 10th in the title, can't remember where
2010 - Hayden with no wins and 7th in the title
2011 - Rossi with no wins and 7th in the title
2012 - Rossi with no wins and 6th in the title.
So without the efforts of one rider, 7th in the championship is the general position that several proven race winners have managed to place the Ducati each season with just one fluke win amongst them, from 2007 to date.
If the 2007 (and therefore the similar 2008) bikes were that good, those stats would read a little differently
