Catalunya Moto2: Espargaro takes pole, Redding second

Pol Espargaro took pole in a largely uneventful Moto2 qualifying session at Catalunya today, 0.619 ahead of British championship leader Scott Redding. Espargaro set the lap around half way through the session, and no one was able to pull down the gap in the remaining time. The local rider's Tuenti HP 40 teammate Tito Rabat was third, only 0.047 adrift of Redding....

Redding in charge

What's the points lead - 43? Scott playing it very cool. Lapping comfortably, qualifying second and saying he's a duff engine. 2013 is definitely the year this boy prodigy became a man. Mature of ride and comments.

All the pressure is back on Pol, but so far this weekend he's handling it well. He needs to get a strong win sequence going in the face of the sustained heavy points gathering Scott's been up to. Much to play for still this year. It could be a right ding dong between these two yet.

This won't phase Scott. The pressure for the remainder of the year is on Pol.

It'll be interesting.
