Alvaro Bautista explains Catalunya near miss with Valentino Rossi

Alvaro Bautista has defended himself against fierce criticism from Valentino Rossi after the pair came close to being involved in a controversial first lap collision for the second race in succession in Catalunya last Sunday. Gresini Honda rider Bautista crashed on the opening lap of his home race while attempting to pass Rossi’s factory Yamaha YZR-M1 for fifth position. But he lost...

At least it was only his pride that was injured and nothing else.

Glad he could clear that up, anyone can see from the above photo that he was both in control, and not at fault...

Why don't you watch it again and try and observe what actually happened

Mind games

Whether these incidents were Bautista's fault or not, the fact that Rossi has made a comment about his riding, may have effect in the coming races. If Bautista is behind Rossi, then he might just think twice about overtaking him, which would be a good tactical mind game.

Yep - I'd assumed Hugelean was suggesting he was out of control from start to finish.

Bautista was unlucky. In attempting to make a pass I can't see what he did wrong, or what the fuss is about. He was up the inside of Rossi and level going into the corner. Rossi came in tight, Bautista got aqueezed and turned tighter to avoid contact and it let go. At  no point was he out of control going into the corner.

Some people are on a hair trigger and too quick to blame.

Are you on drugs

The great one has spoken so Bautista will listen and no longer attempt to pass him...

What he should do at the next press conference is remind the hypocrite of some of his own ill judged moves from past races - the last of which was quite recent.

Imagine what you'd have been saying if Bautista had misjudged his braking, shot through the pack and run off at turn 1 Qatar, nearly taking two riders in the process.

surely this is head games by Rossi and nothing more?

give AB a bit of a dusting up in the press to mess with his brain come the next race day, we all saw the effect on Simo's demeanour when the knives were out although he was too wilfull to let it affect his on track pace but i'm not sure AB is in Simo's class so Rossi doing a bit of head fuck on the guy can only serve to make sure AB stays behind Rossi (not that Rossi can't  beat AB on any w/e on any bike but psychological warfare is part of the professional game, always has been).

this kind of BS has always been about,Sheene/Roberts, Doohan/Criville, Rossi/Biaggi, Foggy/ every other WSB rider!!!!!!, it's part of the spectacle, it's just reported more by the press nowadays.

i must agree that AB probably isn't the best MotoGP pilot out there but he's a lot better than 99.99% of riders and in the top 100 racers in the world so man up and show Rossi the way home!!!!!!!!!!!
