The Wrens: Britain's Female Dispatch Riders in WWII

During WWII, the British Royal Navy created an all female corps whose members were nicknamed the Wrens.  One of their most notable duties was as dispatch riders for both the Admiralty and the Royal Navy.  Follow this link for more images and details of their service:  http://www.ridingvintage.com/2013/06/the-wrens-female-dispatch-riders-in-wwii.html

and the Army created the WRACs (Womens Royal Army Corps) - pronounced rack.

As as we all know a rack is something that gets screwed against the wall:shock:

If my Mrs sees this I am a dead man - her being an ex WRAC member. only had two previous lovers before she met me, the RAF and the Royal Navy.

I like

how they wear soft hats and carry a metal hat that might actually help them in an off rather than wearing them. Those were the days.

Very

Efficient, these military types. 5th picture down, the military even warn the 'other' ranks when the female riders are suffering (though its really men who cop it) from PMP as they said in't olden days.
