Jorge Lorenzo surprised with 50% win rate

Reigning world champion Jorge Lorenzo says he didn’t expect to have won half of the opening six races of the 2013 MotoGP world championship. The Spaniard heads into this weekend’s legendary Dutch TT at Assen on the crest of a wave after winning successive races in Mugello and Catalunya. Back-to-back dominant victories in Italy and Barcelona have seen the factory Yamaha rider...

That can't be right

$450,000,000 is still 300 million in real money.  4 x bikes at 5 million odd each plus all the crew and travel would still be south of £100 million surely? R&D is difficult to gauge but they can't be spending £100+ million can they?

And

You can't really measure the F1 set up against MotoGP like that, some things you can but not this, MotoGP is tiny in comparison. Honda, Yamaha, Ducati and unofficially Aprilia are factory in GP's and only Ferrari & Mercedes-Benz are true factory in F1, McLaren and Williams probably have lifetime membership to the group but they're not true, true, true factory. Ultimate enthusiasts might be a better description?

Everyone else is privateer or whatever you want to call them, that Red Bull Racing have access to the same (and/or more) funds as Ferrari or whoever is down to the brand making that happen and doesn't make them a pukka factory F1 team.  If Red Bull had to build their own engine for next year they'd be fooked.

Jamie

If Red Bull were in MotoGP they would be more CRT than HRC.

F1 is THE pinnacle in motorsport technology. Red Bull consistently win in this class. With all due respect bud, CRT my arse.
