Valentino Rossi: Extra motivation and pressure after Lorenzo crash

Valentino Rossi admitted that Jorge Lorenzo’s Dutch injury disaster has give him more motivation but extra pressure to try and battle with factory Honda duo Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez in Assen. Lorenzo is out of Saturday’s historic Dutch TT with a broken left collarbone after the reigning world champion fell heavily in a rain-soaked second practice session at Assen. After taking...

Reality check

Okay gents, here it is: 1. CC would not be competitive straight out-the-box on JL99's M1. It's not dialed in for him. He has a stronger chance on his own steed. Also strapping a few go-fast parts on his bike would require him to change set up and doing that in one day in the rain isn't an easy task. 2. Rossi is 9-time world champion and aside from being a fan, logic dictates - R6 Nutter - That he stands a very fair chance of winning. He's happy with his new set up, he has more race craft than anyone on the grid and he's a wet weather specialist. If you're truly a motorcycle racing fan, you should know that ANYTHING can happen once the lights go out. I'm not suggesting he's the favorite, but it's illogical to say he has no shot. 3. If Yamaha would put a strategy together, they can be successful in the rain. both cal and VR46 like to dice it up a bit. If they can work together, they can keep with the Hondas. MM is truly a fantastic rider, but VR and CC can rattle him if they can stay with him. His experience on the RCV in the wet is limited.

Point 1.  -  you can't say that as fact and none of us have any idea how he'd do on Lorenzo's bike. Immaterial anyway as he won't be on it.

Point 2.  -  wet weather specialist? What facts do you base that on out of interest?

Le Mans 2013 - Crashed out.

Valencia 2012 - Lapped and beaten by CRT bikes

Malaysia 2012  - 5th and behind Hayden

Le Mans 2012 - decent result of 2nd.

PI 2011  -  crashed out

Silverstone 2011 - almost lapped

Jerez 2011 - crashed

Granted he has as much a chance as anyone if it is wet track all race on Saturday, but wet weather speciaiist?

"he's a wet weather specialist"

When was the last wet race he won? 2008? 5 years ago? .. & before that?... 2005?... he's had 3 wet wins in 8 years... but he's a wet weather specialist... yeah.

Rossi came 2nd to JL in the dry after moving up through the field at Qatar... he fell off & came 12th in the wet behind a Ducati after dropping back & actually being pressured by the 2nd Ducati in Le Mans... the only reason Yamaha would want rain is to let Cal have another chance at a podium & to throw wet weather mayhem into the mix.

"ANYTHING can happen once the lights go out."

I'm with you on that one.

Hedgey, its a euphemism...

..."wet weather specialist" ( ahem! ) refers to the fun times he has with Uccio, nothing to do with his time on track..
