Rivals hail Jorge Lorenzo’s bravery and skill

Valentino Rossi reckons the superhuman efforts of factory Yamaha teammate Jorge Lorenzo meant the reigning world champion was the real hero of a thrilling Assen MotoGP race in Holland yesterday (Saturday). Just 48 hours after breaking his left collarbone in a practice crash, Lorenzo was performing miracles to finish fifth in a mentally and physically draining 26-lap battle. The reward for his...

humility too....

Meanwhile, commentator Gavin Emmett tweeted perhaps the best quote of the day which had come from Lorenzo himself, ‘Interviewer, "You're a hero". JL99 "No, heroes are those who work hard just to reach the end of each month. I get paid to do these things."’ Spain, Yamaha and the Lorenzo family should be so very very proud.

The ride...

... of the weekend... superb! With determination like that he deserves another championship. Dani would've been out for 3 races. Jorge misses qualifying & finishes 1 place behind the championship leader... a brilliant end to what could have been a tragic weekend considering his crash.

Desire..breath..want it..

A formidable recovery from Lorenzo which goes way beyond points damage limitation.

It's a statement aimed squarely at Pedrosa..who went AWOL just when he needed to step up.

Pugwash is feeling the pressure of leading the championship race. He knows this is his best and probably last chance.

His bosses are watching closely. Marquez is the faster rider, despite what the table says. Judging by the weekend he will have to contend with a rejuvenated Rossi.

If Yamaha can make the most of the next two rounds, at tight tracks, Dani could be in for a really tough second half of the season.

They say that 90% of performance at this level is in the head..does he have the minerals?

True enough Hardlylean

You on the other hand need a MRI to check for signs of neural activity.

Nice quote Will. Jorge is certainly one precocious formerly bratty world champion that's matured into a seemingly well rounded individual. His competitive drive really is second to none. Kudos to the man. The star of the day no doubt.

tough as they come...

Just shows how much he wants to retain his crown.
He knows that Dani will be strong on a lot of tracks yet to come.
He is one determined cookie and all credit to him.
Would love to see Jorge on that Honda.Nobody would get a sniff then!

T'was a herculean effort by Jorge, but having been given encouragement to speak as a neutral by the worlds fastest marshal, I feel compelled to point out that this was a yamaha track, and Jorge instead of losing points to Dani should have taken the lead back in the championship.. And a Dani track next to boot..
