Valentino Rossi ranks Assen win as one of best ever

Valentino Rossi ranked his 80th MotoGP victory in an enthralling Assen race yesterday (Saturday) as one of the best of his career after he rolled back the years to win for the first time since 2010. Winless since the Sepang race in Malaysia 32 months ago, Rossi controlled the 26-lap Dutch TT from the sixth lap to notch an incredible 106th...

Well done...

Got to say it was great to see &, as said, he's never given up despite over 2 years without a win... respect. When everything falls into line you can guarantee Rossi will be there to pick up the pieces. Good qualifying & a superb start. He's earned his wages this weekend... well done!

Yamaha dominated the podium & are dominating the season despite their No.1 rider being injured... where are the best-bike whingers now?

PS... thank you for not doing a stupid dance at the end of it.

It's not down to the bike H5..it's the respective riders.

We all know how quick that Honda is..Young Marquez is doing better of late than Dani already and he's a rookie let's not forget.

Pugwash Pedrosa, the man who paid money to fix exam results, can't buy a win at the moment.

It's all closing in..He's never led the championship before and doesn't know whether to defend or attack, Marc is unsettling him and Jorge just made a massive statement of intent. Not to mention Rossi's possible rise from the ashes.

No mate..the bike is still the best package, it's just Pedrosa isn't making full use because he's distracted and can't get his shit together.

If Yamaha are dominating the season..how come Dani leads the title race with MM third, Repsol lead the team and Honda the manufacturers?

Never one to let the truth get in the way of pure bullshit are you?

So right now Cal is a better rider than Dani & Marc (who he almost beat on a better package Honda)? I can't say you're wrong... you're entitled to that opinion.

"If Yamaha are dominating the season..how come Dani leads the title race with MM third, Repsol lead the team and Honda the manufacturers?"

A fit JL would most likely have taken a podium pushing Dani back another place & a Yamaha would now lead the championship. Fitness not bike has cost them the lead... as it is Yamaha lead the constructors by 1 point.

For every reason you give to support your opinion I can give one against... so I'll leave it there rather than extend this to another protracted no-win conversation.

It was a good race... 3 Yamaha riders shone & MM stuffed it to his team mate. Roll on the next round!

It 'twas indeed a famous Victory

Brilliant victory to Rossi!  Completely demolished an injured rookie, a guy on a satellite bike who has never won a motoGp race, Lorenzo held together with band-aids and superglue and Pedrosa having a bad nickers day.  Oh, and a slew of guys on the bike he 'developed' backwards from a podium and winning machine in two years to one of the worst three-legged donkeys we have seen this millenium

Stunning.  Pure class.  Awesome.

yes farnarkle a classic, when jorge beats Dani he;s beaten him at his best when Rossi does and lets face it it's not exactly a rarety at Assen it's because Danis bike is crap... Looked to me like the hondas tried to go with Rossi and he wore them out so much so that even Cal could pass them at the end. Looked no different to when Casey beat Dani last year.. Can we please get over the Dani is having a bad season garbarge... Dani was 40 points behind Jorge before the assen race last year and still 20 behind, even though Jorge didn't finish, after it. This year he is leading the championship and extended it at Assen... He is way ahead of last year.. Ps the big question is will Rossi be able to go with the Hondas in the 2nd half of the season, as Jorge couldn't get anywhere near Dani last year and relied heavily on the lead he had going into the 2nd half one he doesn;t have this year. Of course Rossi finding a good setting and Jorge crashing were unrelated....

not that impressive

Lap times were down from last year. Supports the view that all the top riders simply had an off day (or were injured).

Is that just because Rossi won? I thought it was a good race regardless of who won.

GOAT

Sounds like a lot of hate in these comments. Injuries or not he won, did not do it from pole nor did he qualify on the front row. Rossi did his job by a decent margin too! Congrats to the GOAT!

Quite a bit cooler this year also which supports a slower laptime, in the same way making direct comparisons between races a year apart without taking conditions into consideration supports a smaller mental capacity..
