that it is that stupid a statement to say Lorenzo could more than likely have won. Easily is probably overstating it and another matter altogether.
When you consider the lap times he was putting in with a plated collarbone and all the tissue damage that goes with it, the lost set up time and starting 12th on the grid to reach 4th in as many laps, you'd surely bet for than against a fit Lorenzo winning that race. Fourth fastest lap of the race, just a tenth and a half off fastest and lapping in the same times as the riders ahead of him for the first dozen laps or so.
He'd have taken some beating.
Is this Jarvis fella who is saying he had no doubt Rossi would win again, the same guy that was ready to re-sign Spies and made no attempt to sign Rossi. It was Rossi who approached Yamaha which hardly suggests the race team actively sought to bring him back. As for "But the fact that he can win races, be a great team rider, great ambassador and animate the sport, we always believed in that"
Well why didn't you make the move to sign him, knowing he was ready to leave Ducati, as opposed to wanting to retain Spies? When asked why they'd taken him back there was no mention of winning, there was some corporate and opaque blurb about how they'd had good times in the past and how it would be fun to have those good times again, plus the usual reference to promoting the brand and the need to 'animate' their business.
Is Jarvis really this two faced or has something been mis-reported in previous news items
