No factory Yamaha future for Cal Crutchlow

Cal Crutchlow’s ambitions to be a factory Yamaha rider in MotoGP in the future appear to have all but vanished, with the Japanese factory reluctant to guarantee him a works YZR-M1 in 2015.The British rider told Yamaha management in meetings during the recent Assen round that he is willing to stay in the satellite Monster Yamaha Tech 3 squad for...

Cal has no backing

Yamaha used to have factory contracted riders at Tech 3 such as Edwards and Spies. But from some accounts Yamaha US picked up some of the tab. It seems Yamaha isn't in a position with the economic downturn to pay both riders in the factory team AND pay Cal at Tech 3 either. It's easy to say dump Rossi for Cal but as long as Rossi is riding around in the top 10 he's more valuable to Yamaha marketing-wise then Cal ever will be to them.

Honda rides

If anything, Cal should be handed the bikes of Bautista or Bradl. They've had their go and unless they do something special soon, they haven't exactly set the world on fire. Even if Cal is offered those factory bikes, he more than likely wouldn't get the factory pay check which he is looking for also. So he probably wouldn't be interested in those rides either unless he doesn't have a seat at Tech anymore.

Careful Gixinator..

..you'll hurt old wosi's feelings. haha..

That you've been here two minutes and moaning "The Cathedral of Free Speaking Forum" isn't moderated heavily enough, while handing out advice on trolling, doesn't really bode well for an extended contribution does it?

Wouldn't surprise me if you hit the button to get Benny booted off. He exposed your thin skin.

You can f and blind with the best of us Pal..so what constitutes a troll in your eyes? Wouldn't be someone who's prepared to counter your cock-sure opinions with a few bar room expletives thrown in..like blokes do?

With regard to your theory that Yamaha could run 5 prototypes..I'd say the likelehood is you are wrong.

There is a new rule in place that limits manufacturers to 4 prototype bikes each.

Do you honestly think Crutchlow would be happy staying on a 'semi-skimmed' M1 at Tech3 while Pol goes straight into a works berth, with a Yamaha Japan contract in his pocket?

the Crutchlow conundrum...

not quite an alien, but currently riding way better than any other Sat rider this year, or for that matter for a few years when you look at how close he is to the winners at race end.

Monster like him a lot, good for their image and they get more TV time with CC than they have previously. Cal is in the pre race interview again this weekend, he has only missed I or 2 this year? in 8 meetings, more than any other Sat rider and same as the top 4 Aliens.

Why, because he is interesting (in a Marmite kind of way) and Dorna appreciate that and that he is good for MotoGP.

Yamaha must at least appreciate the coverage he is getting them, and the points he has taken from both Honda factory riders so far which will help Jorg at year end... all this despite his untimely and unnecessary comments sometimes.

I think he does have some options for 2014, and hopefully they are good ones, but really am struggling to see where they are at the moment, but do not think it will be to anyone's benefit (Monster or MotoGP/Dorna) for him to end up on an uncompetitive bike or in WSBK. It will all come out in the next month or so...

Cal get a big Spainish sponsor or Italian sponsor, in fact buy an R1 or a moped, get it painted and drive round every Yamaha dealer in Japan/Europe/USA/China/Asia  < start in Asia and sign every bike that is sold at that dealer on that day, you are a Yamaha Motorbike Selling Machine.

hmm

Why would you leave the Tech 3 for a Ducati? Makes no sense, that Ducati has killed everyone off but Stoner who never looked like winning a championship on it after 2007 anyways, in 2007 the Ducati was the fastest, especially with the tyre advantage.
