Nicky Hayden: MotoGP or WSB in 2014?

Nicky Hayden’s priority might be to secure a factory prototype ride for the 2014 MotoGP campaign, but the popular American is currently weighing up potential options in World Superbikes. The 2006 world champion’s place at Ducati is under serious threat again, with the Bologna factory locked in fresh talks with on form British rider Cal Crutchlow to partner Andrea Dovizioso...

Hayden

Well, certainly he is not far off Dovi and Rossi on the same bike.  Add that to his years of experience with the Duke, and a classy attitude, I hope they keep him.

Can't see Crutchlow being happy with the Duke after such a good start to 2013 on the Yamaha.

Everyone like Hayden, but lets face it he's done very little since that 2006 title. needs to make way for some new blood.

WSB for the affable American

Would be great to see Hayden in WSB.  He'd be a big draw for an already large audience and pretty sure he's be running up the front following testing which is where he deserves to be.  Although given the talent pool in WSB it's shocked some of the best.

Am pretty sure with the right sponsorship (and he has plenty) they'd be able to cut the right deal to suit his pockets.  Would he be on a Ducati though? Don't go to CRT mate... you'll end up like Edwards (as nice as he is of course).  Decent bloke is Hayden... and he has the right passport so either way, he'll do alright!

Time to say goodbye?

Should Hayden switch to World Superbikes then he could potentially create history by becoming the first rider to win MotoGP and WSB titles.

Not the best reason for dropping down a tier but should he win it, a nice little feather in his cap. Lovely bloke, great ambassador and a very fine career. Go for another WC while you still can.

Hayden

I'm sure he'd so well in WSB, but no doubt he'd like to have 1 more successful season in GP.

Seems like the switch from the Honda 1000 to the 800 "mini-bike" that fit Pedrosa was part of his undoing, then of course the Ducati was in a state of decline compared to Honda and Yamaha, with only the remarkable Casey Stoner able to ride it properly.

And no doubt, as electronics have increased, Hayden has to re-tool his American riding style to be more European.  I think he's made progress.

I don't know, perhaps a satellite Honda or Yamaha in GP would be worth a try.

Agreed then, it's the MotoGP riders graveyard in WSB for Hayden then.
