Exclusive: Casey Stoner to test factory Honda in Japan

Double world champion Casey Stoner will make a dramatic return to MotoGP action next month when he tests a factory Honda RC213V at the Twin Ring Motegi track in Japan, MCN can reveal. The outspoken but blindingly fast Australian, who retired from MotoGP immediately after the final race of 2012 in Valencia last November, will take part in a two-day test...

I quite agree with that Wosi

At 26 Stoner remains a fiercely competitive character with a strong will to win. The bogun V8 cars are not allowing him that opportunity for whatever reason (his fast loose mouth pre season definitely contributing as he's supposedly had the Gardner argy bargy  treatment from the tin toppers).

The Marquez factor has to be a strong incentive too. Stoner has this almost mystical aura about his abilities on a motorcycle. Marquez has come along and smashed all sorts of records already. Stoner has to want to try and put the young prodigy in his place - if that is at all possible.

So will he swallow his pride and come back as most of us hope? I'm picking most teams would move heaven and earth to make that happen. Most junkies who shoot up after a period away from their favourite drug, can't wait for another hit.....

Rossi's testing for them as well... yet another exclusive!

I would love to know if HRC have given Bradl a little 'extra' help over the last couple of rounds. His new-found form is rather sudden.

( Don't spread a rumour tho') in case some people think it's 'cheating' - a la Rossi who's 7 premier titles were manufactured by Dorna providing him with 'exclusive advantages and 'inferior' opposition.

You're speaking from experience of course!

Stoner fanboi and Eurosport comedy duo, Moody & Ryder, love to wax lyrical and draw comparison to fast Freddie's funny how they never mention what happened when he made a comeback?

How the candle that burned twice as bright, lasted only half as long?

Undoubtedly Casey has the talent but, does he have the taste?

Can he re-ignite the passion?..because without it, the whole idea is a waste of time.

It's all what if's and not when....

So I wouldn't hold our breath for a racing come back. If it happens, great (but on what bike?) and if not, then so be it. The sport is bigger than any rider. When one rider leaves, another takes his place and the series continues. It's the same as when your favourite dog croaks it, you get another and life goes on..... We are all numbers in this world!

Hey ladies, I just actually read the story!

It says he's testing for HRC not racing, oh well, funny how some peoples brains work isn't it...

or not!

Nighty night.

...are trying to tempt him back 'cause Dani's done. There's no way Dani will match Marc next year. And HRC know that Stoner's "time off" racing his commode has been as big a pain in the arse for commitments, travelling, etc as motogp. If they change the Bridgestones, he'll have a reason too.

Well Rossi had 2 years off and has made a good return and also HRC realise that Dani will never win so why not keep the option open. Myself, love him or hate him the sport is better with him involved and I hope he does return.

there may be even less to this story than meets the eye. The regular HRC test rider is said to have a significant injury.
