Exclusive: Casey Stoner to test factory Honda in Japan

Double world champion Casey Stoner will make a dramatic return to MotoGP action next month when he tests a factory Honda RC213V at the Twin Ring Motegi track in Japan, MCN can reveal. The outspoken but blindingly fast Australian, who retired from MotoGP immediately after the final race of 2012 in Valencia last November, will take part in a two-day test...

Stoners championships are as good as any doohan, do I think he had a bike advantage when he got them? Yes, but in reality that is usually the case, did rossi have a bike advantage for most of his championships? Yes, (but not all) its the way of the world,. Equally true iis that there is nothing wrong with the decision he made to quit and concentrate on being in aus with his family, cant fault him if thats what he wanted to do. Again as I said id love to see him back, if thats what he wants to do, would make the championship even better.

I to like watching the racing on track ratherthan the points table, and have done since well before a young valentino firstappeared on the world stage. I think you view on stoner being better than rossi because he won more races when they were racing against each is flawed though. You have to take into account an entire racers career rather than justthe bit you want to take in to account. Maybe you could calculate it theway they score sports like diving, take off their best and worst two years and see whats left? The fact is I will clearly never change your opinion, and you will never change mine ( however should he come back and win another 5 or 6 world championships I will hapily change my mind)

customer rcv

If he misses riding the rcv that much. But doesnt want to raCe he could buy one of the customer rcvs it sounds like there are a couple going spare. I am confused about the bringing him in to test the 2014 bike, but giving him a pair of 2012 spec forks? Surely the suspension makes a rather big difference to the way the bike feels, otherwise why would they be giving him the 2012s? On a lighter note, I have just been down on the beach watching killer wales swim by

"You have to (?) take into account an entire racers career"

I obviously don't because I'm comparing 2 riders against each other... I can't do that if they weren't racing together... during the time that Stoner could influence Rossi's results he was better than him in every way except championships in which they were equal... if you're comparing careers then 9 championships beats 2 every time & I don't really understand why you're having this conversation.

Hedgehog5: If Rossi retired at the end of 2009 than he would probably be looked it as without a shadow of a doubt the greatest ever, and every championship since would because Rossi wasn't in it, there'd be huge hype that he might come and do a wild card appearance. The fact is he didn't, he stuck around and now history looks at it differently. Which is why IMO you need to look at the racers full career, who knows what might have happened had Stoner stayed for another 5 years? He could have won another 5 championships, or he could have won none, they were at different stages in their careers when they first came against each other. The fact is he did retire. so when we look at him we look at his whole career.

conversation

I though we were having the conversation hedge, I wasnt having it with myself. According to your. Logic charuchika aoki, rutokudome manako alzamora martinez. Perugini ueda and sakata are all better than rossi, after all when they raced against each other they all beat him as much as he beat them.

Not if you follow Pogo's logic... whole career... there are still a few with a lot more championships.

Pogo...

My apologies... we're having the conversation... I was questioning your involvement with such a clear & obvious difference. Anyone who has beaten Rossi can say "I was better than Rossi"... that they were better on that day than him or any other rider. Any rider who has won a race is usually without dispute the best that day. Stoner was the best of his days & Rossi is of his.

FFS! This thread still going after a week?

Really???..... you bunch of suckers for the marketing men... ha ha ha Bravo Mr. Birt a real web forum pied piper! "HRC though has made it crystal clear that Stoner will not race as a wild card in his home round on October 20 or a week later in Honda’s home race in Japan." It is great he is testing for Honda, but he isn't racing anybody anymore, we have seen Stoner's best and he is part of a past generation. To me Stoner is a more successful version of Schwantz. Fast and unbeatable on certain tracks at certain times and should of wiped the floor with Rossi. Yet he couldn't keep it together.... even on the supposed unfairly advantaged Honda. ??? Oh and so what if he likes fishing! Kenny Roberts loves golf! Yuck! Enough about his missus too. Seen her up close in real life, nice enough but not all that, I prefer her sister. Sad wanks going on about somebody else's wife need to stick to the porn forums.
