BMW withdraw from WSB

BMW have confirmed today that they will terminate their involvement in the World Superbike championship at the end of the 2013 season. BMW joined WSB with a big budget full factory team with their class leading S1000R in 2009. Although it took three years before they secured their first WSB win, they are now one of the benchmark teams in the series...

Serious blow.

SBK could well become customer supported teams at this rate, major blow to the credibility of the series..

Dorna??

Anyone who blames this on Dorna or is shocked in anyway hasn't been paying attention to BMW's motorsports effort over the last decade. This is what they do from F1, LeMans, DTM, etc. They come in with a bunch of hype, have a little bit of success, and then leave the series fucking over teams and riders/drivers. This is why factories shouldn't make rule decisions in WSBK because they will always come and go. This not a hit to the credibility of the series - WSBK will be just find and continue on just like when Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Bimota, Aprilia, etc have all done the same from time to time.

what a typical kraut copout,  ve are not vinning and vee dont like coming second like we did in the last engagement , so instead of supporting  a really good superbike that is as good as anything on the road they are going to support a load of bikes whose engines were outdated copies of a russioan bike when they last used them to blitz europe.

Only BMW could take a well balanced touring bike from the early seventies and turn it into a ugly vibrating monster that now creates traffic jams of its own because it is too wide to filter.

what a load of poor sad  losers

Sponsors

One reason why WSB is struggling to get keep teams and sponsors is it has a very narrow viewing base, The only place you can watch it is on SKY. If WSB was on BBC or ITV the sponsors and teams would increase dramaticaly. MOTOGP (which is already in the poo) has scored an own goal by only having TV rights with BT next season . The sponsors and teams could well leave MOTOGP when this happens. My sugestion is get rid of DORNA and put the running of both series in the hands of the BSB organizers
