technical help needed

Wrong thread I know but thought I may get a quicker fix this way.

I have a Honda cbr600fx that is just missing and breaking down all the time. It was diagnosed last time it broke down and having a faulty fuel pump but it was fine after it was lubed up.

When the fuel pump is running with the engine running too it only clicks about every 3/4 seconds. Shouldn't it click faster than this?

Fuel pump

the fuel pump will only deliver fuel at the rate the engine needs it, therefore at tickover it will not click to often, when the engine is in a wide open throttle, full load situation the pump will be pumping at a very high rate.

Hope that helps you out.

ok

mate thanks.:smile

I reved it up fairly high and the pump increased speed a little but was still barely making 1 click per second.

Points

Yeah I was thinking of trying them and its cheaper than an hours garage labour.

I've had a google about too and found several things to try also.

1) clean point contacts with emery cloth

2) Open fuel tank to see if its a blocked breather.

I know but I do like your bike, Chris. Almost got one myself. It's a toss up (/off) between that colour and the red and black and I'm almost liking that one better.

Yeah

There nice bikes I love mine when it's working properly.

This one just has a glitch that is hard to solve.

Sadly I may have to think about trading it in if it don't get fixed soon.
