Yamaha to test 2014 factory YZR-M1 in Brno?

Reigning MotoGP world champion Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi are widely expected to test Yamaha’s new 2014 prototype YZR-M1 machine in a two-day test session at the Brno track this week. It has been traditional for Yamaha to unveil its new prototype for the following season during post race testing at the Czech Republic venue in August. But the annual Brno test...

maybe this will shut Wosi' gob..

...i remember him distinctly soiling himself and stating that the end of the world was nigh when HRC unveiled their 2014 machine. A new machine with the apparent "trick" gearbox to boot aswell...and on par with HRC now, not bad eh?

They need to get the seamless shift how quick

With Marquez 26 points ahead of the nearest Yamaha heading into the Honda favoured circuits, Lorenzo and Rossi are going to need big commitment from Yamaha. They need to get the seamless shift gearbox up and running before Marquez and Pedrosa pull too much of a gap for them to bridge. To be honest, I think the title is between Marc and Dani now, but you never know.

Yeah the seamless box can only help, but let's not forget, there's two other reasons for MM's lead in the championship.

Yammy are on engine #4, the seamless shift will only go into the 5th and we are half way through the season.

New sealed engine rules

They need to test the new gearbox ASAP, no matter what their engine count is already.  According to new rules, the factories will need ALL their engines sealed for next season.  That means no new developments to be rolled out incrementally during the season.

The whole sealed engine thing pisses me off actually.  Dorna makes all kinds of changes to control costs but leasing multiple engines is a huge money waster.  Much cheaper for a team to replace pistons and rings, valvetrain bits.  Not being able to work on the ones they have and having to lease a whole new engine is an exhorbitant expense.  Look at us club racers...  Could we afford to race if we didn't do our own engine rebuilds and repairs?  No.

............

18 races - 18 warm-ups - 32 practice and a massive 5 engines is so easy and cheap to build that. look at wsbk they have only 1 engine a season............... + 20.

only the engines alone in motogp costs multi millions to race with. yes very smart and very cheap. bet the 20+ engines in wsbk cost 10 times less
