Cutting out

I have heard this happens but until recently it hasnt happened to me. Under hard braking coming to a stop say for traffic lights the engine dies and unless the clutch is engaged the rear wheel locks and skips. I played around with different scenarios and it definately occurs more under severe braking. I have informed my dealer who in turn has e mailed KTM. Unfortunately he is now away for 3 weeks and although he told me to speak to one of his assistants i'm prepared to wait so i can speak with him and keep the trail of info to just the two of us. He has heard of the problem too but hasnt had it occur with any other bikes yet. Have any of you had a similair problem? It would be nice to know so 1. KTM know about it. 2. It backs my argument with them. Imho its a safety issue. It alway restarts 1st time but if the braking was being done not to stop but to prepare for a very slow corner then the wheel locking would endanger the user. I'd be very interested in your views. Ok i jusr read back through the other thread and it does seem to be a common fault. Could i ask all owners to post their names here so i can at least let my dealer know the extent of it and maybe tell KTM direct too. Thanks

Hi, yes mine used to do it, and I also had the rear wheel lockup going into a slow corner... I don't know if this was resolved as a result of the first service or the exhaust/fuel map upgrade, the later I suspect, it's a pity that you have to go out and spend another £650 to get your bike to run properly, however the SD isnt the only bike that suffers from EU emision rules, and the pipe/map upgrade really does turn it into a fantastic bike.

Yep

It happened a lot for me when I first had the bike. Now on around 6000 miles it has started happening again a little - probably half a dozen times in the last 1000 miles.
