I ride a 600 cc fazer and i am first to admit that i am slow. i recently did a bikesafe course and it really improved my use of gears and cornering but the copper who i was riding with said that my problem was my overtaking, we were riding rural roads with 60 mph limits but when i came up behind cars that were doing 45-55 mph he said i i should be overtaking to "progress". I am happy just sitting back relaxing rather than constantly looking for an overtaking oppurtunity then after the overtake just to catch up ...

My son and myself have just done BikeSafe with the Essex police. It's really excellent, and it says something that we both got a lot out of it despite an age difference of 39 years!. Apart from the useful information from the appraisals, to get a day's riding including a good hot lunch at a biker cafe all for %XA355 each can't be bad.

Hi guysWhen approaching a 1st gear corner, I'm in 3rd gear rushing down the straight with the corner ahead of me.I find I can improve my time if I keep in 3rd and keep accelerating for as long as possible. Shortly before the corner, I'll brake and simultaneously blip and downshift 2 gears basically missing 2nd gear all together. I don't have a slipper so it gets a little jumpy at the back but I can reduce that with a little bit more practice. Is this good practice or should I be downshifting from 3rd into 2nd and then into 1st ...

Quick question if anybody knows...I'm 30 and have my mod 2 restricted test booked for next week.If I had waited until after the new test changes would i still only be allowed to learn on a 125cc or could i learn on a larger bike without being accompanied by an instructor? If its still 125cc this likely means I would pass like a younger driver and be forced to do additional tests to gain an A license, however if I could learn on a larger bike then I could have an unrestricted bike potentially much sooner.I am going to call DSA ...

Grade yourselves:a) I regularly read the vanishing points of the onrushing bend and use that info to accelerate or brake accordinglyb) A bend? I take a cue from traffic ahead and then vow to pass them all on a straight bit of road.c) Am fully alert for signs to the "Stavros Kebab Van" that can't be far away. Cup of splosh and a greasy dog.Yes, I am bored.

I lean a fair way through the corner, I lean off my bike and sometimes hang a knee out. i have dragged my toe once and since then, I have never had the confidence to point my toes out. Am I doing something common/normal by putting my feet way back on the pegs and only bringing them foward when they are needed? Is there a better way to have your knee drag before your toe? tell us how you ride your bike fast around corners.
