50 feet from home I hit a patch of what was probably hydraulic oil on a wet road, (not derv no smell) only doing 10 mph I didn't clear it fast enough to regain grip and the front wheel went sideways...
Bike needs £100 spent on secondhand bits, I need a new helmet £500 and time off work due to 'complications', even though the torq-tour boots did their job, and the armour in the leathers, I ended up with a skin tear on the left knee that allowed a microbial infection in.
The source of the oil, we 'suspect' was the council recycling bin truck that had stopped there 10 minutes before hand, certainly others reported a trail of such patches further down the road that day, and a car through a hedge on its route!
