Ducati has announced it is to take orders for a further 250 Desmosedici RRs, bringing the production total to 1500. The £40,000 motorcycle is just about to begin rolling off production lines in the Bologna factory, and priority delivery will be given to buyers who have already purchased a 999R, who will receive their motorcycle before the end of 2007. ...

Any doubts Ducati had about the Desmosidici RR selling at the huge price of £38,000 a pop are out the window. Ducati Coventry has already sold 20 of the full-blown road-going MotoGP replicas on pre-order by the end of 2006. Ducati plan to build 400 of the models this year.
