BSB Mallory Park: Race 2 results

Leon Camier has won a rain hit second British Superbike race at Mallory Park this afternoon to maintain his Championship lead.
The race was held in torrential rain and was ultimately red flagged after 15 laps due to standing water on the entrance to Gerrards but with less than two thirds race distance completed, only half points were awarded and that means Camier goes into the three-week break with a 76.5 point advantage.
Chris Walker led in the early stages, revelling in the conditions despite suffering from a sore pelvis, the legacy of the race 1 crash, but once Camier had found his way past the fast starting Richard Cooper, he soon moved by Walker to open up a lead at the front.
The rain came, then went, and then came back again, worsening as the race wore on but Camier was controlling things from the front as team-mate James Ellison also moved by Walker.
The local hero then had his hands full fending off the fast closing John Laverty as Cooper slipped back to fifth whilst Michael Rutter was also closing in as the race approached race distance.
However, with the rain getting heavier and standing water building up, the wise decision was made to bring the race to a halt and with no sign of the weather improving, a result was declared.
Behind Rutter, Karl Harris scored Hydrex Honda’s only result of the day in seventh ahead of Tommy Hill, Steve Brogan and Julien da Costa.
