Pat McDougall will race Phil Reed’s ex-Karl Harris Yamaha R1 in BSB next year.
Discussions started after McDougal rode successfully for Reed’s East Caost Racing team at the Silverstone British Endurance Championship round in September.
McDougal said: "It's a fantastic opportunity for me to move onto the R1 superbike. I can’t wait to get testing starting in Spain in early January and sample the 200+ BHP, traction control, launch control etc.
"And then we’ll be stating the season at Brands Hatch, my favorite track, in April.
"It’s going to be a steep learning curve, coming off a 600 this year but I have ridden a superstock bike back in 2006 in the European Championship.”
The team are competing at the Macau GP as part of their roads programme, with rider James McBride.
From there the Rob Mac Racing-built bikes will return to the UK in time for the beginning of winter testing of four days in Almeria in the first week of January.
