Tommy Hill signs for Swan Yamaha

Tommy Hill will race a factory-spec R1 in BSB next year for Shaun Muir’s Swan-backed Yamaha team.

Muir’s team have ditched the Honda’s they have developed over the past six seasons to run the factory R1s with backing from Yamaha Motor UK, Yamaha Motor Europe and Yamaha Japan.

And with that support, Muir has enticed BSB number three Tommy Hill to their team from Crescent Suzuki who recently lost direct support from the factory for their Worx-backed team but were hoping to continue developing their GSXR-1000s as an independent team, built around Hill.

Hill said: “As soon as we started talking about the prospect of getting a factory Yamaha I knew it would be a special deal. Not only am I getting a factory bike for next year, there could be future prospects with Yamaha.”

Muir added: “The whole idea of the link with the factory is to benefit from their technical support and foster a relationship so our bikes will mirror the WSB R1s.”
