Cal Crutchlow’s World Supersport boss to Fiat Yamaha?

Wilco Zeelenberg, boss of Cal Crutchlow’s 2009 World Supersport championship-winning squad, is poised to run Jorge Lorenzo’s factory Yamaha MotoGP squad next season, MCN understands.

Fiat Yamaha has been looking for a new boss of Lorenzo’s squad following the departure of Daniele Romagnoli, who had been at the helm of the Spaniard’s squad since the start of 2008.

The Italian left the all-conquering Fiat Yamaha squad, which has won 20 races with Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi since the beginning of ’08, at the end of last season.

Zeelenberg masterminded Crutchlow’s 2009 World Supersport success and will move to MotoGP following Yamaha’s decision to shutdown its official Supersport effort next year because of the global economic crisis.

Zeelenberg is a former 250GP winner and in 1991 he finished fourth in the world championship.
