Cal Crutchlow will still have to wait until next month’s Valencia test to get his first ride on Yamaha’s new 1000cc MotoGP machine.

It was rumoured that the British rider might test the new YZR-M1 earlier than anticipated because former world champion Jorge Lorenzo is unable to race or test in Malaysia after he suffered a nasty left hand injury in Phillip Island last weekend.

The Spaniard was due to join team-mate Ben Spies in the test on Monday after the Sepang race, but a bad injury to the ring finger on his left hand suffered in a warm-up crash in Australia means he is currently recuperating at home in Barcelona.

Yamaha will use test and development rider Katsuyuki Nakasuga having confirmed him as Lorenzo’s replacement for the Sepang race.

A Yamaha spokesman told MCN: “Ben and Katsujuki will ride the 1000cc bike on Monday. The original plan was to have Cal test the bike in Valencia and that hasn’t changed.”

Crutchlow will ride the new YZR-M1 in Valencia on November 8 and 9 and he will be joined by new team-mate Andrea Dovizioso.

After wrapping up the 2011 world title with his fifth straight win on home soil last weekend, Honda confirmed that Casey Stoner will now test its factory RC213V 1000cc bike in Sepang too.

He has previously ridden the bike in Jerez and Brno.
