Valencia MotoGP: CRTs top free practice

A wet first and drying second session at Valencia saw a surprise CRT one-two in MotoGP today, with Randy De Puniet the fastest of the day on his Aspar ART, with Michele Pirro second on the Gresini FTR.

Hayden, fastest in the first session, was the quickest of the prototypes in third, leading the trio of Ducatis continuing their wet weather form with Karol Abraham in fourth and Rossi fifth, up from seventh in the first session.

CRTs completed the top ten, with Silva and Rolfo separating the Ducati trio from James Ellison in ninth on the PBM Aprilia, trailed by Aoyama and Corti.

Cal Crutchlow on his Tech 3 Yamaha, eight in the wet first session, was the next of the prototypes, back in 12th.

Most of the other prototypes decided to sit out the session, with Stoner, Dovizioso, Bradl, Pedrosa and Lorenzo not completing a lap.

The earlier session had saw Pedrosa, Lorenzo and Dovizioso second, third, and fourth to Hayden.

Free practice 3 kicks off tomorrow morning at 0910 UK time.
