Scott Redding has targeted a maiden Moto2 victory before the end of the season after he clinched a new deal to remain with the Marc VDS Racing squad in 2013 on the eve of this weekend’s Sepang race in Malaysia.

As was revealed by MCN last week in Japan, the 19-year-old will remain on board a Kalex Moto2 machine after his hopes of a MotoGP deal next season fell through.

Redding had tested for Ducati at Mugello in late July and was in the frame for a place in the Pramac squad before the Italian squad signed Ben Spies and Andrea Iannone.

He also spoke to satellite Honda boss Fausto Gresini about an RC213V deal but that too failed to materialise.

Next season will be Redding’s fourth in the Moto2 class and he is hoping to sign off in 2012 with a victory.

He said: “Where I'll ride next year has been something of a distraction recently, so I'm happy to have signed for my fourth season with the Marc VDS Racing Team and now I can focus on these last three races. So far I've stood on every step of the Moto2 podium but the top one, and that has to be the target before the end of the year.”

Redding will again be partnered by Finnish rider Mika Kallio, while the Belgian-based Marc VDS squad will also expand into the Moto3 category next season.

Highly rated Belgian youngster Livio Loi will move up from the Red Bull Rookies Cup and form a one-man effort on a Kalex KTM machine.

Loi though will not be eligible to race in the first two races of next year’s championship because he won’t turn 16 until April 27. The minimum age for Moto3 and Moto2 is 16.
