Suzuki urged to complete several wild cards in 2014

Suzuki has been urged to make as many wild card appearances as possible next year to ensure its new 1000cc contender returns race ready and competitive in 2015.

The Japanese factory shocked the MotoGP world in June by delaying a scheduled return to the world championship until 2015.

The decision to abandon plans to return as initially intended in 2014 was taken to give Suzuki more time to focus on developing a competitive machine.

But test rider Randy de Puniet has told Suzuki management they need to be racing as much as possible to improve its new 1000cc machine in the heat of battle against the likes of Honda, Yamaha and Ducati.

Speaking to MCN, de Puniet said: “I explained to Suzuki that it is good to race because you learn so much when you race. I am not the boss of Suzuki but if they are waiting until 2015 they need to make some wild card races next year to learn. It is not the same as just testing.”

The Frenchman took part in another Suzuki test at the Twin Ring Motegi last week, which was the same test where double MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner made his return to action on a factory RC213V.
