Indianapolis Moto2: Red mist descends as Redding takes pole
17 August 2013 21:10
Scott Redding got his season back on track today with a blistering lap late in qualifying at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to take pole position for tomorrow's race.
Redding, who was initially top of the leaderboards but dropped away towards the end, went out for his final run but tangled with championship rival pol Espargaro, who he accused of repeatedly blocking him after the session.
Eventually Redding carried out a ride-through of pit lane to lose the Spainard, and with the red mist descended was able to immediatly put in the fastest lap of the session to take the top spot from Espargaro.
Takaai Nakagami was third and Tito Rabat fourth, with no surprises as the championship contenders filled out the front of the grid.
Simone Corsi, the first non-Kalex on his Speed-Up chassis, was fifth, ahead of Nicolas Terol, Jordi Torres, Marcel Schrotter and Juliam Simon.
Danny Kent was 20th on his Tech3 bike and Kyle Smith was back in 28th on his Blusens Kalex.
