Scott Redding moved into the top three on a dry second day of Moto2 testing action at the Jerez track in Spain today.

The Marc VDS Racing rider was fifth quickest in wet conditions yesterday but a best lap of 1.42.849 saw him finish behind Pol Espargaro and Takaaki Nakagami this afternoon.

Redding was 0.517s behind title favourite Espargaro, who topped the leaderboard with a best lap of 1.42.332. That put the Spaniard 0.299s clear of Japanese rider Nakagami on a day dominated by riders on the Kalex frame.

Nicolas Terol was the only rider inside the top six not on a Kalex frame in fifth.

Danny Kent’s transition from Moto3 to Moto2 continues to be a big learning curve with the British teenager down in 25th place on the Tech 3 Racing Mistral 610 machine.

He set a best time of 1.45.557 to finish 3.225s behind Espargaro. Kyle Smith was 26th with a best time of 1.45.605.
