Jerez Moto3: Alex Rins on pole despite crash

1 of 1

Alex Rins will start the first Moto3 race of the season from pole position, after an early lap in qualifying allowed him to maintain the top spot despite a crash mid-session.

KTM secured a wholly-Austrian front row, with Maverick Vinales second and Luis Salom, on the factory machine, in third.

South African Brad Binder heads row two on his Suter Honda, while the FTR Hondas of Caretta Racing’s Jack Miller and Gresini’s Niccolo Antonelli were fifth and sixth respectively.

Danny Webb was the best of the Brits in 12th, with compatriot John McPhee in 17th.
