14:55: HM Plant Honda’s Steve Plater has suffered a massive crash in practice for the NW200.

The accident happened on the final run down to the start-finish line chicane on Thursday afternoon during practice for this weekend’s race. Details are sketchy but drizzle on the track is one possible cause of the crash.

MCN’s Gary Pinchin who’s on the scene said: “Ambulances have been on the scene of the track for around twenty minutes.

"I believe he’s been sedated and the team have been told the injuries are not life-threatening, however I’ve been told that he will be taken to hospital for further investigation.

We’ll bring you further news on Plater’s condition as we get it.
