BSB star Stuart Easton suffered serious injury after a crash early in the opening lap of Superstock practice at the North West 200 yesterday (Thursday).

The MSS Kawasaki rider was initially assessed in Coleraine hospital where his injuries were diagnosed as a broken right femur, broken pelvis and possible internal injuries. He was transferred immediately to a specialist pelvic unit at Belfast Royal Infirmary to undergo surgery.

The cause of the accident is unclear but Easton was following close behind team-mate Gary Mason on the high-speed run to Station. Mason did not crash and brought his ZX-10R to a stop some 200-yard further on from the crash site. Apart from bruising to his left leg, he was unhurt.
