Road race specialist and the fastest Manx man round the Isle of Man TT Mountain circuit, Connor Cummins finished his first European Superstock race in 18th place just a stone’s throw from a points scoring position.

Fresh from his double podium finish at the TT Cummins was keen to make the most of his World level debut.

He said: “It has been a really good weekend. Practice went good as it stayed dry.
I’m on a BSB specification bike which is lower spec than the bikes out there and I was in with a shout at points.

"I would like to do the next round at Brno but I need to get some funding for it. This weekend has cost me a lot of money but it has been worth it. I have to say a big thank you to Blackhorse Finance and to Ian Lougher for helping make it happen.”

Going from pure roads to the relative safety of a short circuit is an interesting step and both have their merits. Cummins explained: “A TT win would be a streaking moment!

"This is very different to the TT but at the same time they are both world class events. The TT is more rewarding both financially and mentally as it is such a big challenge and it feels great.

"Round here on the circuits I’ve not had success yet but the circuits need more investment to do well.”

This weekend was just a taster for the two metre man and something that he wanted to try out. Whether it will have opened any doors for him remains to be seen but it is something he would like to look to in the future.

He said: “Ultimately I want a career on the short circuits but I will still maintain the pure roads. I’ve got the Southern 100 coming up now and the Ulster Grand Prix.

"I’m also interested in World Endurance, I took part in Le Mans at the start of the year and it was awesome, lots of track time.”
