McCoy eyes Moto2 ride?

Following the revelation that he has been dropped from the Triumph BE1 World Supersport squad, Garry McCoy has revealed that his best option of securing a ride could lie in the new Moto2 class in 2010.

With just six weeks until the start of the WSS championship at Phillip Island, McCoy is realistic about his chances of securing a ride with top team anywhere in the WSB paddock.

Speaking to MCN he said: “There’s not much around and to be honest I think it’s too late.

“I may well go to Phillip Island for the first race to speak to a few people, but I know I’ll find it really hard to spend three days there when I’m not going to be racing.”

While his options are limited in the WSB paddock, McCoy has revealed that there are possibilities already developing in the new Moto2 class.

“I wouldn’t mind racing in Moto2 but it depends who with. I’ve been speaking to Eskil Suter (Moto2 chassis builder) and he’s pretty interested in getting me out for a test on one of his bikes.

“So in a couple of month I could be doing some testing, which I’m more than happy to do, but  I’m not going to race unless its for the right team.”

Outside of Moto2 there are virtually no options available. In WSB and WSS all the top rides have been taken and it’s the same in domestic championships such as British Superbikes.

McCoy will be returning to Australia next week where he will be evaluating his options.
