Joan Lascorz injury update

Following his serious accident at Imola yesterday in testing, Joan Lascorz underwent surgery last night in Italy to repair damage to his back.

The 28-year-old Spaniard underwent an operation to relocate a broken vertebra which had moved partly damaging his spine.

The factory Kawasaki rider will continue to be treated and assessed in the Hospital Maggiore di Bologna, but there are already plans underway by the Spanish federation to relocate him back to Spain as soon as the doctors feel he is in a position to be moved.

A further statement from the team is expected this afternoon.
