Tyco Suzuki’s Josh Brookes will get another chance to race before the start of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship season, after getting called up to compete at the opening WSB round at Phillip Island by the Crescent Fixi Suzuki team.

Brookes has previously raced in both the World Superbike and Supersport Championships before he joined the MCE BSB and with his experience Suzuki have lined him up for the Australian round. Brookes will replace John Hopkins who misses the opening round after breaking a bone in his hand during testing yesterday.

Brookes said: “I’m currently employed by Suzuki and have done a season racing on the GSXR1000. I have to say I’m very grateful to Phillip Neil from TAS Suzuki for allowing me to ride.

“Without their support I couldn’t do it. I don’t put any extra pressure on myself, I’m just going to ride the best I can and make the most of the opportunity.”
