Sykes diagnosed with fractured radius

Tom Sykes has suffered a fractured radius in a testing crash at Phillip Island today. The 27 year old factory Kawasaki rider crashed six laps into the opening session of day one of testing.

A team insider told MCN: “The crash was completely unexpected. Tom wasn’t pushing and after studying the data we can see that he did absolutely nothing different to the lap before, but on this lap the rear cane around and he was high sided.”

MCN understands that the fracture is small and while Sykes isn’t expected to ride tomorrow, he is still planning to test next week and has every intention to race in the opening round which takes place on 22nd to 24th February.
