Parkalgar Honda rider Eugene Laverty claimed victory in the opening World Supersport race at Phillip Island today. Laverty dominated the race from the start. Yamaha WSB rider Ben Spies took victory in the first World Superbike race at Portimao. Brit Cal Crutchlow placed 2nd in World Supersport qualifying for the Yamaha WSS team.  Crutchlow finished just behind Parkalgar Honda rider Eugene Laverty.
