Brno MotoGP: Toni Elias to undergo late fitness check

1 of 1

Spanish rider Toni Elias will undergo final medical checks early tonight (Monday) before deciding on whether he is fit enough to return to action in this weekend’s Brno MotoGP race in the Czech Republic.

Toni Elias has been sidelined since late June when he suffered a serious left femur injury in a practice crash for the Dutch MotoGP in Assen.

He reckons he is 60 per cent fit enough to return to action in Brno but a final decision on his participation this weekend will be taken after a thorough medical check today.

A Gresini Honda  team spokesman told MCN: “It is 60 per cent that Toni will be ready to make his comeback this weekend. But he is scheduled to undergo further medical checks today that will determine whether he is ready.

“He seems quite confident but will take advice from medical staff before making his final decision.”

If Toni Elias does make a return to action this weekend, it will be ahead of schedule as doctors had originally pencilled in his comeback for the Misano MotoGP on September 3, 2007.
