Re-establishing the British title tag to the GP250 class has dramatically boosted interest in the ailing two-strokes.

The exciting new ACU Dunlop Tyres MotoStar Cup GP250 series has already attracted an entry of over 60 riders, with several new bikes guaranteed.

That’s something that many thought would never happen following the demise of the class at BSB level after the 2001 season – even though the class continues to play a key role as a supporting race and rider development class at MotoGP.

Among the entry are former MRO champion Lee Dickinson on a Honda, plus Yamaha riders Phil Desborough and Andy Sawford.

MCN’s Bruce Dunn is also in the line-up on the 2006 TZ250 Yamaha he finished sixth on in his North West 200 debut last year, clocking over 160mph through the speed trap.

Other riders to watch include: Richard Grinling on a Honda, Andy Mechem from Guernsey, veteran Darrell Higgins from Melksham and youngster Benji Dawson.
