John Hopkins believes the huge increase in corner speeds on the new 800cc machines has played into Suzuki’s hands for the 2007 world championship campaign.
The Rizla star, who sat out the recent IRTA test in Jerez after suffering multiple injuries in a massive crash in Qatar , said higher corner speeds helped Suzuki’s new factory GSV-R 800.
He told MCN: "I’ve been behind the Ducatis this winter and we can hold a lot more corner speed than they can. One good thing is that with the riding style on the Suzuki over the past couple of years is that I have had to carry a lot of corner speed on the 990 and that has helped me out on the 800."
