Valentino Rossi has confirmed he is in discussions about competing in his second Rally of Great Britain later this year.

Rossi, who is a huge rally fan, is planning to contest the Wales Rally of GB between November 30 and December 2.

Rossi’s first attempt at the GB rally ended in disaster in 2002 when he crashed out of the first serious stage while driving a Michelin-backed Peugoet 206. That came after he’d impressed during a Super Special stage in Cardiff.

Rossi raced in the final round of the World Rally championship in New Zealand last year, finishing in an impressive 11th place.

He drove a Prodrive-prepared Subaru Impreza in New Zealand and confirmed today after finishing third fastest on the opening day of the Estoril GP in Portugal that he hopes to drive a Subaru again.

Rossi, who has been linked with a full-time switch to rally racing once he retires from MotoGP, said: “It is not 100 per cent but we are working to make that rally.

“It is after Valencia and the same as last year but not in New Zealand. It is not decided yet on the car but maybe Subaru.”
