Rea holds second with less than two hours of test remaining

Jonathan Rea made the most of his qualifying tyre to jump up the leader board with a blistering lap first thing this morning, good enough for the second fastest time of the test in Kyalami.

Rea has so far been testing a host of chassis components including swing arms, linkages, and rear shocks.

Having got his Ten Kate Honda set-up to his liking he elected to push for a fast lap with impressive results.

Speaking to MCN, he said:

“I’m happy enough with my time, but I’ve used all my qualifiers now so we’ll have to wait and see if my time is good enough to stay at the front. Other than that the testing has gone well. We’ve had so much to work through and the team have certainly had their monies worth out of me this test! I don’t know how many laps I’ve done but it’s a lot.”

Rea will spend the final two hours of the test trying out new settings on the PI advanced electronics. His next test will be at the Parkalgar circuit in Portugal in January.
