Ian Lowry will take part in a University study to improve his fitness levels ahead of his first season in British Superbikes.

Speaking to MCN at the NEC Motorcycle Show, Lowry said he will be taking part in a course compiled by the University of Ulster over the winter period.

The 21-year old told MCN: “I’m actually really looking forward to doing it.

“My Team Manager Philip Neill has said he wants me to concentrate more on my training and I think doing this will be a really big help.

“The facilities at the University are second to none and it’s not far from where I live, so it will all work in my favour.”

Philip Neill exclusively revealed Lowry’s signature for BSB to MCN earlier this month and had said he wanted to see an improvement in Ian’s commitment away from a race weekend.

Lowry added: “I can’t wait for next season. People always say that but I’m really buzzing and I just want to get on the new bike and get out there again.

“I appreciate Philip giving me this chance and now it’s up to me to repay him with a good performance next year.”
